Reason for success......... LITTLE ROCK INDIAN SCHOOL !

I happened to get a chance to study in one of the finest and handpicked schools of Karnataka. I don’t know how many in Bangalore have even heard of its name, but it is a president-award winning school affiliated to the CBSE syllabus. Yes, if you think you know it then it is LITTLE ROCK INDIAN SCHOOL (LRIS).

There were excellent teachers here and I have forgotten none yet! I joined this school in 1995 and since then I know all my teachers by face and names. Though I am not sentient if they are still teaching in LRIS, I know them for having taught me my subjects. Dr. Mr. Abraham, the Founder, is such a gentleman and you need to meet him to appreciate this fact! He considers children to be his sole assets and that is the very reason why LRIS is a success today! Mr. Mathew C Ninan, the Principal and his wife Mrs. Lali A Mathew, the Vice Principal, are nothing less than role models for people who consider themselves as high fliers or go-getters.

Not many of them are aware about this school as the school is not positioned in any city! Though it is internationally recognized, it is located in Brahmavar, Udupi district, Karnataka. Being in Bangalore, I have seen many schools and none of them I found was worth comparing to LRIS. I am always gratified to the circumstances which made me an alumnus of LRIS. Whatever I am today and for the accomplishments which have come my way, I would like to pay a tribute to my school. It was only because of this school, that I have that buoyancy in myself. My achievements are nothing but a product of this school’s competence!

(It is just over 5 30 PM IST, and I am at my desk. However, I don’t know what compelled me to jot down about my school in midst of work…………)

Corresponding Dates and Places....... they are significant you see!

(Mumbai was supposed to be a city of dreams for people in the seventies and thee eighties! Everyone imagined themselves to be a part of this city and the population then!)

I was born in Mumbai; then known as Bombay! It was the December of 1984, the month that marked the end of that year! Well, no wonder Mumbai was the most sought after cities in the eighties! I stayed here at my mom’s sister’s place along with her parents (my grandparents). I was raised here till 1995.

My parents and brother (a year elder to me) were initially in Mangalore and then my dad got transferred to Delhi in 1992. In 1995, I went to Delhi and since then I started staying with my parents. The same year my dad was transferred to Manipal, Karnataka and we happened to stay at a place little away from Udupi namely Koteswar. From 1995 to 2005, I stayed here, where we also have our own residence. My education here started off with the CBSE syllabus and ended with a degree in Computer Application.

(Udupi is a petite temple town; essentially a district now. It is clean and well maintained and has 100% literacy rate. It often stands at the top with the academic results among all other districts of Karnataka. I am glad to have studied here contributing my part to it!)

I was Campus recruited with Infosys, Bangalore in Jan 2005. After I completed B.C.A in May, I joined their Bangalore office in June 2005.

(Bangalore has been a wonderful place for the IT professionals all the while. This is indeed a very promising city and you can rest assured that you would never remain unemployed here, especially if you know ……..what they call “computers”!)

Now it is June 2008 and I am still here in Bangalore!

Gist..... before I landed with the Geeks

I don’t understand what essentially inspired me to start blogging! This is my second continuous post if you keep an eye on the date and time.

I would launch myself considering the time I stopped writing diary actively, that is, when I was doing my B.C.A. It was because of quite a few reasons, which are frivolous and most prominently I can’t recollect any!

After my 12th Standard, I wanted to pursue law, which I knew and felt I would be good at, however, things dint go that way! There wasn’t any law college within the proximity of40 kilometers and moreover my folks felt that law doesn’t practically yield a successful career instantly! Even though I fancied being a lawyer, I gave it a second thought because; I forever dreamt big and wanted to be in some flourishing line of business straight away! To complement my thinking, we saw the IT sector often had sudden booms. This finally facilitated me to land up with the IT geeks! I started off with my Bachelor’s of Computer Application (B.C.A) degree education and could complete it with a distinction grade from the university. Before I could complete my final semester, I got campus recruited with Infosys and I thought this was a novel commencement of my new life!

Thrilled!

Initial establishment of my Diary......

I feel I must start blogging keenly here after. There isn’t much to do at work or at home and the days are becoming more of routine. No wonder why I thought I should start blogging actively! Isn’t that essentially better than browsing for all comical things and getting upset plainly because you have an idle mind?

Now, I am not starting to write because I would get responses or any positive reception to my writings, for that matter! I have seen several blogs myself, where people continue to write actively in spite of gaining no responses; they don’t seem to expect any either! My blog here after is with the same intentions and I would rather call this a “Diary” about myself. Writing is more of a stress-releasing agent to me as I have always been enjoying writing and it does helps you get rid of superfluous anger and anxiety.

I remember writing a diary when I was somewhere in the 9th Grade; we Indians term it as the 9th Standard. I was prompt about writing the same daily, even though there wasn’t much happening each day. As I grew up, perhaps a year or two later, I started writing only when there was something out of the ordinary that happened. It gave me colossal delight to share stuff with my diary especially when things went my way. At the same time, I also jotted down stuff when I was gloomy. My diary after all was my only companion to blurt out my feelings. However, this habit steadily started to fade away. I have almost forgotten about the “diary” concept. That could be due to various reasons; no time or too many friends. And at this point in time, I have no idea where that book is!

My blog is all about the way I see the world and that is of course, from my viewing angle. Whether it is the discontent or the bliss, I prefer having it shared so that I keep myself well balanced and unbiased.

Secret Despair (Poem)

It wasn’t possible to narrate my state,
My sweetheart was fuming, sad and irate.
Couldn’t concentrate, could do no vocation,
Totally gloomy, with no reason for elation,
Emotions glued with strange obsession,
What was his reason for such huge depression?
Dismal enough for the rest of the day,
My heart grew heavy, much heavier to weigh!

However I approached, I got no reason,
About my beloved going overcast, this season,
Answers I got were being dim and dull,
Dearest was bleak and that made me to mull.
Tried to know what closely went wrong,
After all, it is me and to him I belong.
What could be the cause for being so murky?
He was a human in any case, unlike a turkey!

I was the reason for his secret despair,
This I found without hearing a single swear.
Although I was unaware about what it was,
He finally spoke, other men being the cause.
Though it surprised me how he thought,
Possessiveness in relationship is always sought.
To know how it felt, me in his shoes,
Was enough to realize, the sting of the bruise!

ADJOURNED EMOTIONS (Poem)

What a pleasure on his hand to lay my head,
Forgetting about the rest and memories shed.
The scent in the air truly made things rosy,
It was indeed inviting, and more than cozy.
Never did I know if life really had such days,
As every day I knew was with similar sun’s rays.

Head on the pillow and a blanket made me snug,
Never did I know a single action of a hug!
Never did I believe things could go strange,
But depth of emotions brought a saccharine change.
Just one stretched hug was enough to wonder,
That life was more “above” and very less “under”.

Head on his hand and a fixed hug alluring sleep,
It was exactly the time I wondered quite deep,
Aren’t passions and feelings more to cherish?
Especially when life is a stage and actors perish.
My sweetheart was genuine caring and concerned,
Those were the reasons why my emotions adjourned.

Indians Vs Chinese

“China has a track record of attracting the FDIs when compared to India”

This is an old headline; the new ones would still worsen your patriotism. And this again was the reason for me to start putting my views on such ideologies.
I read in a blog where the someone professed about great Chinese Infrastructure and the developments and reforms going through in China, and India standing nowhere in comparison! Chinese FDIs getting forward and Chinese currency being sensible enough to be maintained unlike the “Indian Rupee-to Dollar-fall gaga” which happened couple of months back!
To begin with and to justify India being better than China, there are fundamental question Indians can ask themselves at their leisure, no matter where they are! At the very outset:
· Would you prefer staying in China just because its attracting FDIs ( Forieign Direct Investments)?
· How much of freedom to Press and Media is important to you?
· Is it none at all, like in China?
· Would you wish to voice against the government policies or be a Chinese all your life?
Well, I know what your answers to these questions are, as they would be similar to mine. However, if you try asking a Chinese, whether he wishes to have alternate political parties to choose from, apart from the one and only Communist party of China and that he would also get the veto to elect, what would be the answer?
These questions only support what I wish to justify! Do you really think the Chinese profits are the real Profits? Do you really think China is benefitting by rupee getting stronger against the dollar and hitting on India with the Exports? Let us consolidate these two questions to an answer.
The Chinese exports are cheaper, but that is again due to its cheap quality! Chinese goods have got a notorious brand tag of “cheap Chinese” everywhere they export. Tomorrow even if the Chinese invent something like a Duracell battery which would last longer and increase its Export price, would you in India prefer buying this? No, for sure! And why is this? It’s just because the Chinese has a brand associated with cheap quality goods for lower rates. Any of their electronic products boasting to be economically priced don’t give you even 5 % of the satisfaction Indian goods would fetch! Take the battery as an example. Any Indian manufactured battery would give you 10 times better life than the Chinese.
About the rupee getting stronger against Dollar, Indian exports will be hit only if we continue to manufacture cheap products which any country can manufacture. And that would not happen if we stay product-focused and innovative, unlike the Chinese who focus on how the cost cutting is achieved for exports putting the quality image of the product at stake!
China is no doubt attracting the FDI, but are you aware how low – profile this job is, that gets outsourced to China when compared to India? And, being an Indian I would definitely not want business out of low end jobs being off shored to India. Not at the cost of working late nights so that the Source Company earns more than what my company does! Not at the cost of being stressed and not being able to spend time with my family. Let the Chinese do it, to attract the FDIs. If we grow the Indian market and consumer base within India, why do we need any other market? India is a population of 1 billion!! This should act as our strong point. Our economy should not collapse if exports stop or reduce. We should make use of the fact that 1/6 of world lives in India and the exchange rate balance should not be a cause to crib! Like said earlier, to be a superpower, we need to have knowledge and technological advantage not low cost based cheap labor advantage! Again, let the Chinese do it like they did always! Like it is said, we need to create a situation where other countries line up to buy our F-16s, operating systems, mobile phones, I-pods, Boeing, our brand for that matter which would have market at our specified and patented rates, unlike the Chinese FM radio which these days, has no consumers even in India due to its unreliable functionality. India has Infosys products like Finnacle, and more coming up quicker when compared to what China is doing to get product based.
The Forex reserves in China is 1 trillion Plus, whereas that in India is 200 billion plus. If the Dollar weakens further, China would suffer 5 times greater loss than what India would! Already China has 800million Plus so called “poor” compared to India which has 350 million, and both the countries’ population being a billion plus. It is known that the rural Chinese cant migrate to the cities unlike the Indians from villages do! The infrastructure of china is again only limited to the Capital Beijing and Shanghai city. The rural china is no way even a percent nearer. In the future too, the people in China would never be able to afford foreign trips due to the artificially weakened Chinese currency by the Chinese government. However the Indians would definitely not have this problem in the long run as the Indian Rupee is controlled by the market trend.
I probably would not have written this article had I been a Chinese, and you probably would not be reading it, if you were Chinese too! India has the freedom of Information, where the Internet is not filtered. In China, the people would not have heard of this sort of liberty from their communist government and the stuff on the internet too, is decided by the government if it can be public! As anything being anti-Chinese/communist (like my article!) gets a bar!
Are we not a step ahead towards innovation, considering that we at least get to voice our opinions?
